The City’s advocacy efforts are guided by the Council-approved Future in Focus Advocacy Plan. Opportunities to engage with upper levels of government are limited, and with thousands of stakeholders all looking to make their voices heard, it is essential for the City’s advocacy to be strategic and targeted to influence action at other levels of government.
The Advocacy Plan supports such strategic advocacy by providing a consistent framework for identifying and prioritizing advocacy issues, and for selecting the most effective tactics to advance action on each topic. Additionally, the Advocacy Plan identifies 9 key advocacy directions, which are the overarching priorities needed to support our City’s Future Guelph Strategic Plan.
