The City has exciting plans for the more than 436 ha. (1,000 acres) bounded by York Rd, Victoria Rd S, the York-Watson Industrial Park and the City’s southern boundary, south of Stone Rd E.
The Innovation District is vital to meeting employment and housing targets consistent with Guelph’s Growth Management Strategy and the Province’s Growth Plan; supporting an economic cluster focussed on green-economy and innovation sector jobs; and offering opportunities for integrated energy planning as part of the Community Energy Initiative.
The area is central to building partnerships with the Province, Federal government, public and private organizations. The Secondary Plan is being supported by a Federation of Canadian Municipalities Green Municipal Fund Grant.
