About the garden

The GROW Garden, a project of the Guelph Tool Library, is a steppingstone for self-sufficiency, rooted in community building.

We aim to:

  • Reduce food insecurity through donation of healthy produce.
  • Bring people together through gardening.
  • Improve our community through teamwork and sharing of knowledge.

The Grow Garden donates fresh produce to local food pantries and food security programs. In recent years, the GROW Garden has donated almost 500lbs of produce annually. The garden operates on a minimal budget and benefits greatly from in-kind donations from the community (triple-mix, composted manure, straw, woodchips, seeds/seedlings) to support garden production and regular maintenance.

Our group of member volunteers each commit to contributing at least 1- 2 hours weekly through the season (May to October) to general garden maintenance and planting, tending, harvesting and donating produce. In exchange for their participation, member volunteers are provided with garden plots in which they may grow produce for their own consumption.
