Frequently asked questions

What is Park Activation?

Park Activation is a free outdoor program offered to the community by the City of Guelph during the summer months. We invite children aged 4 – 12 years to visit one of the two stations to bask in the sun with some outdoor fun. Our trained staff will be on site, delivering engaging games and activities for all to participate. We ask all caregivers to stay close by while their little ones join in the fun.

Where is it located?

The program alternates locations between Margaret Greene Park and Exhibition Park. Check out our calendar for where our Park Activation Team will be next!

When does the program begin?

The program will begin daily at the start of July and finishes at the end of August. Check out our calendar for the most up to date information!

What is the schedule?

The program is scheduled Monday to Thursday from 3:30–7:30 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 9a.m.–1 p.m.

How much is it?

Free!

What types of activities and games are offered?

When visiting the Park Activation team, expect a wide range of games and activities like those you would find at a summer camp setting. Our staff have a catalogue of games they pull from, with a wide range of equipment for children to play with.

Is the Park Activation Station staffed while open?

Yes! We have multiple staff on site to make sure children have the best experience possible.

Is it free play with the supplies and equipment provided?

There is no charge to stay and play with our team. Children are welcome to come and go while our staff are on site leading an activity. If you see a piece of equipment you’d like to play with, the staff will be happy to pull it out and allow you to play with it or even create a game with it for everyone to play. We do not loan our equipment out, so all should remain in the area of the Activation Station.

Can I leave my child at the Activation Station while I go elsewhere?

We ask all caregivers to stay close by while their little ones join in the fun. The Park Activation Station is not a childcare space.

My child is younger than 4 years of age, is there an option for them?

Yes! Join the preschool team at the Exhibition Park Activation Station for Run.Jump.Play – Outside! Intended for ages 1-4, caregivers and children will run, jump, and engage in imaginary play, make new friends, and enhance gross motor skills in this outdoor summer program. Visit the Park Activation Calendar for all available dates and times.
