The Arkell Spring Grounds Wellfield (Arkell) is a significant water supply asset owned by the City and is located in the Township of Puslinch. This property is home to seven municipal water supply wells, accounting for as much as 80% of the City’s daily water supply. This land provides beneficial source water, as well as patron trail use outside of the operational area. Do not enter the area outlined in blue on the map.

Trail use

The Guelph Hiking Trail Club (GHTC) and Guelph Off-Road Biking Association (GORBA) both have agreements with the City of Guelph to provide their members access to the Arkell Spring Grounds Wellfield outside of the designated Operational Area. Please visit the websites below for further information on available trails and requirements for membership.

Access to the Radial Line Trail is provided by following the orange blazes 2.3 kilometres to Victoria Road. The footpath is maintained by Guelph Hiking Trail Club.

Respect the trails and properties

We all have a role to play in environmental and source water protection. We ask that everyone obeys the following when accessing the trails and properties in addition to those rules outlined by the Trail User Groups:

  • No all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or motorized vehicles
  • No horse riding
  • No camping
  • No hunting
  • No fires
  • No dumping waste
  • No animal waste
  • No geocaches allowed on-site
  • Leave only your footprints behind
  • Obey the signage
  • Stay on the established trails
  • Do not enter the Operational Area
