City of Guelph makes City-owned land available for affordable housing

Non-profits can submit proposals to build and operate 12+ new affordable housing units Guelph, Ont., February 25, 2025 – In a significant step towards addressing the growing need for affordable rental housing, the City of Guelph is making City-owned land at 14 Edinburgh Road South available for development of affordable housing. As part of the project, the City will contribute the nearly half-acre property to a non-profit selected through a request for proposals process. City of Guelph offers grants for those looking to build affordable housing

Guelph, Ont., February 12, 2025 – The City of Guelph is launching new grants to support homeowners, landlords, non-profits and developers who are looking to build affordable housing in Guelph. Mayor Guthrie shares draft 2025 budget update

Guelph, Ont., October 17, 2024 – Today, Mayor Cam Guthrie shared the draft 2025 budget update on Guelph’s website; the draft budget will be presented at a special Council meeting on October 30. The Mayor and City staff worked together to identify key investment areas and priorities to ensure the budget meets the community’s needs while also addressing the Mayoral direction to reduce the previously-adopted 2025 budget.   Background  The 2025 budget was previously adopted as part of the 2024-2027 Multi-Year Budget with a net tax levy increase of 9.8 per cent over 2024. What is the Housing Affordability Strategy? The purpose of this strategy is to determine actions that we can take to address private-market housing gaps both in the short and long term. We need your feedback to ensure we are creating strategies and policies that support our community’s needs. The purpose of the Housing Affordability Strategy 2024 work is to identify actions like policy changes, tools and incentives, advocacy, and partnership approaches to address private-market housing gaps in the short, medium, and long term.
