UPDATED construction notice: Starwood Drive paving starts September 17

UPDATE: Paving on Starwood Drive is temporarily delayed due to weather. Paving is expected to take place in two weeks. Chesterton Lane to Lee Street About the project The City is working with Capital Paving Inc. to: Remove and repair concrete curbs, Adjust manholes, and Repave the road surface. All work will take place on City property. Road work begins September 17 Road work is expected to start on or about Monday September 17 and continue for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Whittaker Court and Tanager Drive About the project The City of Guelph is working with Alfred Fach Excavating on behalf of Hira Custom Homes to install new water and sewer pipes to service the properties at 150, 156 and 162 Niska Road. Construction begins August 27 Construction is expected to begin on or about August 27 and take approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Construction notice: Princess Street sidewalk construction starts in August

Division Street to Clarke Street West About the project Sidewalks on Princess Street are being extended from Division Street to Clarke Street West to implement the Sidewalk Needs Assessment Study approved by Council in July 2017. This street has been identified as a priority due to its proximity to an elementary school and recreational facilities, and due to the lack of sidewalks on either side of the street. Adding a sidewalk to the west side of Princess Street improves accessibility. Construction notice: Metcalfe Street closed west of Eramosa Road starting August 1

About the project The City is replacing and upgrading a major water main on Eramosa Road and Glenhill Place. The water main work has passed recent quality testing and will now be connected to the existing City of Guelph water network. Water main work begins August 1 Construction will take approximately one evening, starting on August 1 at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Further paving of the site has yet to be determined. Lane reductions and detours Metcalfe Street will be closed west of Eramosa Road towards Pleasant Road for approximately 50 minutes. Driveways on Metcalfe Street will be accessible from Pleasant Road. Fuel tank replacement at 45 Municipal Street starts July 30

Municipal Street and Denver Road Guelph, Ont., July 23, 2018 – The City is working with GHD Ltd. to remove an underground fuel tank at 45 Municipal Street, the property that houses the City’s fleet of vehicles. The tank is being replaced as a part of the City’s 25-year life cycle replacement schedule. The fuel tanks will be replaced with above-ground fuel pumps that offer improved environmental monitoring, including: Better visibility of the tanks’ physical and structural condition Improved leak detection Easier replacement in the future Keeping the fuel tanks on-site also allows the City to purchase fuel in bulk at a lower cost and keep fuel accessible to staff operating most of the City’s vehicles. Construction notice: Wilson Street sidewalk repairs start July 31

Carden Street to Gordon Street About the project The City is working to repair the retaining wall and bridge abutment on Wilson Street that had  loose concrete falling on to the sidewalk. Retaining wall repairs will start on July 31 For safety reasons, the sidewalk on Wilson Street from Carden Street to Gordon Street will be closed for repairs and will reopen on or about August 3, weather permitting. Pedestrian access During the repairs, pedestrian access is not permitted. Pedestrians should go around the closure using Norfolk Street or Wyndham Street. Construction notice: Eramosa Road and Meyer Drive asphalt repair starts August 8

Stevenson Street North and Meyer Drive Eramosa Road asphalt repair starts August 8 Repairs are expected to start on August 8 at 7 a.m. The road will be reopened August 10, weather permitting. Eramosa Road eastbound lane reduced and Meyer Drive closed Eramosa will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction from Stevenson Street North to Meyer Drive. Meyer Drive will be closed at Eramosa Road and Laverne Avenue for asphalt milling. Paving starts on August 9, ending on August 10. Open house notice: Join us to discuss phase two of the Woodlawn Road multi-use path on August 2

Silvercreek Parkway to Imperial Road The City of Guelph is hosting an open house to present construction plans for the multi-use path on Woodlawn Road West from Silvercreek Parkway to Imperial Road. The multi-use path will be built on Woodlawn Road’s north and south sides between the existing curb and property line. The multi-use path will be three metres wide for use by pedestrians, cyclists and other users to get around. The multi-use path is funded by the Province under its Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Program to build safer, more connected cycling routes for Ontarians and to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. Between Eramosa Road and Cadillac Drive The City is replacing and upgrading a major water main on Eramosa Road and Glenhill Place. The contractor is experiencing issues with the existing City water infrastructure and will require a closure to further investigate. Construction begins July 19 Construction will take approximately one evening, starting on July 19 at 7 p.m., weather permitting. Further paving of the site has yet to be determined.
