The City of Guelph has completed a Class Environmental Assessment study for improvements to Silvercreek Parkway, from north of Paisley Road to south of Canadian National Railway secondary line.
The process
The Environmental Assessment was conducted as a Schedule ‘B’ project in accordance with the “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment” (Municipal Engineers Association, June 2000 as amended in 2007) which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Based on recommendations from the consultant and input received from technical agencies and the public, the City has developed a Preferred Design which addresses the study requirements. The improvements developed for the Silvercreek Parkway include, but are not limited to:
- an underpass at the Canadian National Railway Mainline
- reconnecting Silvercreek Parkway between the two CN rail lines—two through lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks throughout
- new roadway to the east of the Silvercreek Parkway in accordance with the Silvercreek Development Concept Plan
- improvements at the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway and Paisley Road
- safety improvements for the Fergus Subdivision at the CNR secondary line
- upgrading underground service and utilities
