Downtown Food Stand Program

This program allows for food stands to be placed in long-term, pre-approved locations in Downtown Guelph.

Applying for a Downtown Guelph food stand location

Food stand operators are welcome to apply for a spot downtown at any point in time. If a spot becomes available, all applications received will be reviewed by city staff and the successful applicant(s) will be notified.

A food stand is considered a stationary food establishment that serves customers on the street.

All submitted applications will be held for two years from the submission date. If a spot becomes available, all applicants will be asked to re-apply again once the spot has been filled.

Process for obtaining a food cart or food vehicle spot downtown

  1. Fill out the Food Stand or Vehicle Application Form.
  2. Ensure you have an active business license for your food cart type.
  3. If chosen:
    1. Review and sign the Stand or Vehicle Placement Agreement.
    2. Send all required documents as requested.
    3. Pay all associated annual fees per the User-Fee By-law. [See Below]
  4. Current operators will have the opportunity to renew their application for the following year. If the renewal application is not received by the deadline, the spot will be considered open and current applicants will be notified.
