Economic Development Week

The City invites the community to celebrate Economic Development Week May 6–10 through activities linked to the City’s 2022-2026 Economic Development and Tourism Strategy.

What is Economic Development Week?

Economic Development Week is an international campaign created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and increase quality of life. Economic Development Week celebrates all things economic development.

Monday, May 6

Theme: Employment Survey

The City is conducting its annual employment survey targeting local businesses between May and August 2024 to help us learn more about current trends in our local economy and inform business support programming.

Activity: Check out the 2023 Employment Survey report.

Tuesday, May 7

Theme: Support Local

Champion innovation and celebrate entrepreneurs by exploring local businesses. Guelph Shops Business Spotlight Profiles are a great way to learn about the variety of local businesses in Guelph.

Wednesday, May 8

Theme: Workforce development

Guelph Works Epic Job Fair focuses on matching local talent with local employers who are hiring full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions. This event is open to anyone looking for a new job opportunity.

Activity: Register today to attend the Guelph Works Epic Job Fair on May 8, 1-5:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 9

Theme: Business support

Running a business can be challenging; fortunately, various programs and resources are available to support you along the way.

Activity: Visit our Grow Guelph partners and source available resources.

Friday, May 10

Theme: Investment attraction

Regions can create jobs, spur innovation, and drive economic growth by encouraging investment in related industries and infrastructure by identifying and attracting specific industries or companies.
