Opens phase 2 applications for Youth Climate Action Fund
Guelph, Ont., April 22, 2025 – In celebration of Earth Day, the City is proud to announce the awarding of about $45,000 to nine innovative projects through the Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF). Guelph is one of Six Canadian cities and one of 100 international cities chosen to implement the YCAF micro-grant program for the second successive year.
The YCAF micro-grant program aligns with the City’s commitment to being a leader in climate action and supports young leaders in their efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainability. Funds awarded through this program will be used to implement several innovative climate initiatives that will benefit the community.
The awarded projects cover a diverse range of solutions, from community garden projects to education programs, all aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and taking care of the environment. Each project will receive an amount ranging from $1,500 – $7,000 to help bring their vision to life.
“We are thrilled to support these young changemakers who are leading the way in climate action,” said Alex Goss, manager, of Equity and Community Investment. “Protecting our environment is a collective effort, and we are proud to support these young leaders in our community as they bring their creative and innovative climate solutions to life.”
Additionally, the City is excited to announce that applications for Phase 2 of the Youth Climate Action Fund are now open. We invite all eligible youth aged 15-24, who are passionate about making a difference and protecting the environment, to apply. This is an opportunity to bring your innovative ideas for addressing climate change to life and contribute to a sustainable future.
“The YCAF is a great opportunity for the young leaders in our community who are passionate about taking care of the environment to get involved,” said Mayor Cam Guthrie. “I encourage all eligible youth in Guelph to apply and share their innovative ideas for combating climate change.
