Construction notice: Guelph Junction Railway Multi-Use Trail—Woolwich Street to Woodlawn Road

Notice date: June 12, 2025 What’s happening: We’re building a new multi-use trail along the Guelph Junction Railway (GJR) within the railway corridor, from Woolwich Street to Woodlawn Road. The section of sidewalk along Woodlawn Road between Nicklin Road and the new multi-use trail will also be replaced with a multi-use path. This project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). Upgraded cycling traffic lights at Nicklin Road and Woodlawn Road will be installed under a separate contract in 2025 or early 2026. Important notice: Weed control along rail tracks June 5-6

PNR RailWorks Inc. will conduct weed control along Guelph Junction Railway tracks between Woodlawn Road and Victoria Road, excluding a section of tracks from Norwich Street East to just past Macdonell Street. Weed control will take place overnight June 5-6 starting at 11:59 p.m. to be completed at 5:00 a.m. (rain date is June 6-7). Trail impacts The Downtown Trail will be closed between Speedvale Avenue and Marcon Street during the control activities. As an added precaution, the trail will remain closed for about 12 hours after the weed control is applied. How we control weeds No herbicide or pesticide will be used within 60 metres (200 feet) of waterway crossings.
