Market Square is an unsupervised space. The rink or wading pool may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance or repairs. Check status.
Wading pool
- Stay 2.5 metres from people you don’t live with and avoid large crowds.
- No animals, bicycles, inline skates, skateboards, strollers, furniture, structures, motorized toys, aquatic boards or recreational devices are permitted within the wading pool.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for the adequate care, protection and supervision of their children.
- Children with diapers must wear appropriate covering (e.g. swim diapers or plastic covers).
- No glass, food or beverages allowed in or around the wading pool.
- The wading pool water is not intended for drinking.
- Do not use the wading pool if you are experiencing an open sore, rash, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
- Do not pollute the water, the wading pool surface, or the area around the wading pool.
- Do not climb the water wading pool spouts.
- Do not smoke in the water wading pool.
- Running, pushing, wrestling, splashing, boisterous play or causing undue disturbance in or around the wading pool will not be tolerated.
- The City will not be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
- Do not interfere with the operation of the wading pool.
Skating rink
- Do not enter if you have been in contact with anyone who is sick, waiting for COVID-19 test results, or tested positive in the past 14 days.
- Skating aids are not permitted.
- Wear a mask or face covering and stay two metres away from people you don’t live with.
- Stay safe—hockey helmets are recommended.
- Cycling, inline skating, skateboarding, and motorized vehicles or toys are not permitted in pedestrian areas or on the ice.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for the adequate care, protection and supervision of their children.
- Skate at the same speed, in the same direction—no horseplay, games, balls, pucks, sticks, or figure skating.
- Focus on the fun—please take photos from outside the rink, and do not use headsets, cell phones or hand held electronic devices on the ice.
- All participants must wear skates—do not carry children in arms, backpacks, slings or other carriers. Do not use strollers, wagons, sleds, chairs, or skating aids that could interfere with other skaters.
- Anyone assisting another individual must wear skates; wheelchairs, wheelchair skates and sledges are welcome.
- Skate now, eat later—no food or drink on the ice.
- Please do not interfere with rink operations.
- Please leave the ice when asked—everyone must be completely off the ice and during Zamboni™ resurfacing.
