Sports field status

Wednesday May 4, 2016 – All sportsfields and diamonds are open according to the schedule below.

Please monitor weather conditions and refrain from playing if fields become saturated.

Sportsfield status will be updated daily at 2 p.m.

  • Softball and Hardball diamonds are now open for the season (OMAFRA will open May 27).
  • Soccer/Football fields are now open for the seasons with the following exceptions:
  • Scheduled to open May 20: O’Connor Lane Soccer, Hanlon Creek Soccer, Centennial Soccer Enclosure, Exhibition A3 Football, Eastview Football and Margaret Greene Soccer.
  • Scheduled to open on June 3: Guelph Lake Soccer and Franchetto Soccer.

Our goal is to keep the City’s sports fields in optimal condition. This requires staff to manage the amount of play on a field during both the regular season and pre and post-season. In order to meet the demand for quality and safe sports turf, staff monitors both weather and field conditions on a daily basis. This procedure ensures that continued play in inferior conditions does not compromise personal safety of league players, cause unreasonable wear to the field surface or jeopardize further scheduled use of fields.
