Next phase of West End Community Centre improvements begins January 6, 2025

About the project An updated pottery and art space is coming to the West End Community Centre (WECC). The latest work in a series of improvements to the WECC will see the relocation of the Guelph Community Pottery Centre to the Community Centre, along with the additional arts programming space. Once complete, the new pottery and arts space will allow for increased participation in pottery programming, more arts programming and improved visitor experience thanks to upgraded amenities, shorter program waitlists and new programs. Pool at Victoria Road Recreation Centre to be closed September 2-22

Guelph, Ont., August 19, 2024 – The pool at the Victoria Road Recreation Centre will be closed from September 2-22, 2024 for maintenance. All aquatics programs and rentals will be unavailable during the closure, while the rest of the recreation centre facilities will remain open and operate as usual. Those interested in swimming are encouraged to visit the West End Community Centre located at 21 Imperial Road South. Information about aquatic programs at the West End Community Centre is available on recenroll.ca. The Victoria Road Recreation Centre, located at 151 Victoria Road North, is a fully accessible, multi-purpose community centre. Evergreen Seniors Centre closed for the month of September

The closure is due to maintenance and facility improvements Guelph, Ont., August 14, 2024 – Guelph’s Evergreen Seniors Centre will be closed from September 1-30 for maintenance and improvements. Improvements include new flooring and cabinetry. Bistro 683 During the closure, Bistro 683 will take pre-orders and payment for five-packs of frozen meals. Ordering will happen during the last two weeks of August. Although frozen meals are always available for purchase at the Bistro, during the closure, meal pick-up will be limited to Thursday, August 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, September 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. More information will be provided upon ordering. Council moves forward with plan to build $115 million South End Community Centre

Construction of the recreation centre to begin this fall Guelph, Ont., March 28, 2023 – Guelph City Council approved an additional budget of $35.5 million for the construction of the South End Community Centre (SECC), bringing the total cost of the project to $115.5 million. “I’m thrilled that Council has given their approval for the additional construction budget so we can move forward with building the South End Community Centre,” says Jayne Holmes, the City’s deputy chief administrative officer of Infrastructure, Development and Enterprise Services. “This is an important investment for our community’s future as we create a space that will bring people together for years to come.” The additional $35.5 million for the budget will come mostly from development charges, consistent with the split of… Continue reading Council moves forward with plan to build $115 million South End Community Centre


City of Guelph recommends path forward for construction of the South End Community Centre

Recreation facility remains a priority to support growing south end   Guelph, Ont., ​February 23, 2023​ – At the March 7 Committee of the Whole, City staff will update Council on a recommended path forward for the construction of the South End Community Centre (SECC).  A report released by staff includes updates on the design, construction timelines, and budget without altering the facilities amenities and environmental sustainability targets. Staff recommends an additional budget of $35.5 million for the project, bringing the total cost of the SECC construction to $115.5 million.
