Pottery

Guelph Community Pottery Centre has moved!

Our new location is 14 Edinburgh Road South.

The studio is equipped with 10 electric pottery wheels, two kilns, and all the essentials for creating pottery. We have been offering classes, workshops and open studio for more than 20 years.

Due to high demand, we have added more weeks to our pottery summer camps! A half day filled with creative activities that teach clay hand building techniques as well as wheel work. Come join us! 10 campers maximum per week.

Open Studio Volunteer Opportunities

Open Studio Volunteers are a handful of potters who regularly attend and manage The Guelph Community Pottery Centre’s Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm afternoon drop in sessions. These weekly sessions run year-round. In the summer, we add a Wednesday evening session for July and August from 6-9pm.

In addition to welcoming new participants who wish to practice, maintain or explore their own clay work on the wheel or through handbuilding, volunteers assist in the presentation of two public events;

Participants prepare and take down the large pottery show and sale on the first Saturday in December. At this event, they sign up for jobs at the check-out table wrapping purchases as well as decorating and providing homemade goodies for visitors to enjoy. Throughout the event volunteers take turns demonstrating and explaining a variety of clay techniques to interested viewers.

Open Studio participants welcome anyone with at least two clay courses under their belt who would like to come share their Saturday or Sunday afternoons with others who love to work with clay.
