Facility Overview
The South End Community Centre (SECC) in Guelph will be a new recreation facility located at 25 Poppy Drive West. This 160,000 square foot facility is currently under construction and is set to open in the fall of 2026.
Opening Status
The South End Community Centre is anticipated to open later this fall. Final preparations are in progress, and a confirmed opening date will be announced once available.
Features
The South End Community Centre will be a state-of-the-art recreation facility in Guelph, with unique features that include:
- Twin ice pads
- An aquatic centre with a 25 meter eight-lane lap pool and leisure pool
- Double gymnasium
- Walking track
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Net-Zero carbon design features which will generate 62 per cent energy savings and 85 per cent savings in greenhouse gas emissions
Programming
The South End Community Centre will offer a variety of recreational programs for all ages, abilities and interests. This will include an expansion of existing programs found in other facilities, as well as brand new programs that will take advantage of South End specific features.

Why hasn’t an opening date been announced yet?
Large facilities require final inspections, testing, staff training, and operational readiness before opening. We will announce an opening date once these steps are complete.
What facilities will be available at the South End Community Centre?
The facility will include twin ice pads, a 25-metre eight-lane lap pool, leisure pool, double gymnasium, elevated indoor walking track, fitness space, and community rooms.
What programs will be offered?
A variety of aquatic, fitness, sport, wellness, and community programs will be offered. Our schedule will include drop-in programs and registered programs. Full program details will be available at recenroll.ca before registration opens.
When can I book a room, gymnasium, ice pad, or other rental space?

Will other recreation facilities close when the South End Community Centre opens?
No. Existing City recreation facilities will continue to operate. The South End Community Centre will expand recreation opportunities across the city.
Will my City of Guelph membership or pass be valid at the South End Community Centre?

Where can I park?
The South End Community Centre has been designed with dedicated parking to support daily operations, programs, and events.
If I live in another part of Guelph, like the West, North, or East End, can I still visit the SECC?
Yes, all Guelph Recreation facilities are open to everyone.
