Notice Date: October 6, 2026
What’s happening:
MTE is drilling boreholes on Ontario Street and Wood Street to complete geotechnical investigations.
Why:
Geotechnical investigations are required to progress the design of the reconstruction of Ontario Street and Wood Street.
When:
Drilling will take place on Thursday, October 29, Friday, October 30 and Monday, November 2.
Changes during construction:
Traffic lanes: Drilling activities and equipment may block portions of the roadway temporarily. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions with flagging if needed. A full road closure is not planned, however delays should be expected.
Sidewalks: Sidewalks will remain open during the drilling activities.
Private driveway access: Drilling activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property.
Waste Containers/Barrels: During the geotechnical activities, waste barrels may be used to temporarily hold investigation-derived waste (IDW), such as excess drill cuttings, core spoils, and purged groundwater. These barrels will be temporarily stored on the City’s right-of-way at the intersection of Ontario Street and York Road. The barrels will be clearly labelled and any material they contain will be non-hazardous.
