Not-for-profit organizations are invited to partner with the City to help reduce waste
Guelph, Ont., September 29, 2026 – Local eligible not‑for‑profit organizations are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to partner with the City through a Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) in support of Interrupting Waste Creation.
Through a CBA, your organization can partner with the City to help residents reduce waste, access sharing, reuse, and repair resources, and become more engaged in creating a sustainable community.
The City’s partnership with the Guelph Tool Library has demonstrated the value of a Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) in supporting waste reduction and community sharing initiatives. While that partnership continues through the remainder of 2026, the City is seeking applications for the next two-year partnership term beginning in January 2027.
Interested applicants are to complete their Expression of Interest through DecisionHub. The platform is free to use. A plain text copy of the Expression of Interest template is also available and can be downloaded here.
The successful partnership will offer a variety of programs year-round with support from the City. An example of upcoming programming is October’s Circular Economy Month detailed below.
Interrupting Waste Creation through October’s Circular Economy Month
- Repair Café – Saturday, October 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- RePurpose Fest x Computer Security Day – Saturday, October 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- The Upcycled Dinner – Friday, October 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

What is a Community Benefit Agreement?
A Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) is a city-led strategic partnership with a community organization that directly supports departmental and corporate priorities. CBAs are designed around the purpose of the work—what needs to be achieved on behalf of the city. They formalize expectations between the department and the community organization for how outcomes will be delivered, monitored, and reported on. A CBA is not a grant.
If selected, the organization receives CBA funding to deliver City-defined service activities
