Deadline to apply: Friday, January 11, 2019 at 4 p.m.
The City of Guelph invites professional artists or artist collectives to submit Expressions of Interest to be selected for the 2019 City of Guelph Artist in Residence program. Community engagement is at the heart of this program, which is open to artists practicing all art forms including visual, literary or performing arts, architecture and design, or media arts such as sound, video or photography. This call follows a two-stage selection process, the first being an Expression of Interest. Please note, this is not a live-in residency.
Main Street Mural Project
Deadline to apply: Friday, February 1, 2019 at 4 p.m.
The City of Guelph invites artists and artist collectives with exterior mural experience to submit their credentials, examples of prior experience and a preliminary vision for the development and execution of one of four site-specific, outdoor murals as part of Ontario’s Main Street Revitalization Initiative.
For this project there are four separate, yet connected, sites along Wilson Street. While artists are able to submit qualifications and letters of intent for all four sites, artists or artist collectives will only be awarded a single commission and one artist or collective will be selected per site.
This call follows a two-stage selection process. The first stage is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ). Design concepts are not required at this time.
The City plays a programming and coordinating role in supporting Guelph’s annual Culture Days celebrations. Each September, in every province, individual artists, cultural groups, organizations, municipalities and festivals offer free participatory and interactive arts and cultural activities during the Culture Days weekend. Save the dates for Culture Days 2019 – September 27-29. Learn more about Culture Days in Guelph.
