Councillor Phil Allt

Phil Allt was elected a member of Guelph City Council representing Ward 3 in 2014.

Phil is a retired teacher of high school history, politics, and philosophy. He has served as Speaker and Parliamentary Authority to the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Council and as Treasurer for the Waterloo chapter of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation. As the former Chair of the Wellington and Guelph Housing Authority, he has extensive knowledge and experience with local affordable housing issues.

Born and raised in Guelph, Phil has also served as the Treasurer of the Guelph Jazz Festival and a volunteer at Onward Willow Better Beginnings, Better Futures. He has been a contributor to the Guelph Mercury, Toronto Star, Waterloo Region Record, and several business and academic publications as well as to CFRU radio.
