Water Hero Wander Giveaway: Rules and Regulations

Entry in this contest constitutes acceptance of these contest rules and regulations.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this contest, entrants must be 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of the province of Ontario. Contest entrants under 18 years of age must be represented by a parent or legal guardian. The Corporation of the City of Guelph’s (“City”) directors, officers, elected officials and employees are not eligible to enter.

No purchase is necessary to enter this contest. If you do not wish to participate in the activity, you may still enter this contest by submitting the contact information indicated below to [email protected] or by mail to Conservation and Efficiency, 29 Waterworks Place, Guelph, ON, N1E 6P7.

Every entrant must provide their first and last name, email address and postal code.

Entrants may submit one (1) entry (pledge) for each of the six activity stations indicated below, for a total of up to six entries for the contest.

Entries will become the property of the City and will not be returned.

Contest period

Online or email entries must be submitted by April 21, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. Mailed entries must be post marked by April 21, 2023 and received before the draw date.

Disqualification

The City may disqualify any entry that:

  1. Is incomplete, illegible, damaged or irregular;
  2. Was submitted by illicit means; or
  3. Does not conform with or satisfy these rules and regulations.

Limitation of liability

The City will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries or for any typographical, printing, production, distribution, advertising or other errors or omissions with respect to this contest. The City may terminate this contest at any time without notice.

Prize

Five prizes are available to be won, consisting of a City of Guelph branded water bottle, shower timer, stickers, children’s activity booklet, and Guelph Water Badge (approximate value – $10). The prize must be accepted as awarded and is non-transferrable and non-redeemable for any cash value.

Winner selection, notification and prize claim condition

Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.

Prizes will be awarded by a random draw from eligible entries on Monday, May 3, 2023 (the “Draw Date”). The selected winner will be contacted by email within 7 days after the Draw Date at the email address provided by the selected winner at entry, with further instructions on how to claim the Prize. The City must receive an e-mail response from the selected winner, at the email provided by the City in the notification, within 7 days of such notification. If the City is unsuccessful in reaching the selected winner, for any reason whatsoever, the selected winner will be disqualified and the City may (but is not obligated to) select another entrant (until such time as an entrant satisfies the terms set out herein) or cancel the Prize, all at the City’s sole and absolute discretion. The City is not responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever of the potential winner to receive the notification or for the City to receive the potential winner’s response.

Each entrant whose entry is drawn must provide satisfactory proof of identity (i.e. Government issued identification), answer a skill testing question and sign a waiver and release, provided by the City, in advance of, and as a condition of, receiving the prize. Prize winners have 10 business days to claim their prize before another entrant is chosen in the prize winner’s place(in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such new selected winner).

Privacy/Use of personal information

The City is collecting personal information about entrants for the purpose of administering this contest. No further informational or marketing communications will be sent to an entrant as a result of entering this contest. Please see the City’s Privacy Policy for information on its policies regarding maintaining the privacy and security of personal information.

Abide by rules and regulations

Each entrant agrees to abide by all the rules and regulations. If there is any doubt as to the eligibility of an entrant or the manner in which an entrant wins a prize, the City, in its sole discretion, will decide the issue and its decision will be final. Entrants using any scheme, information or method to win a prize which, in the sole opinion of the City, is other than a fair chance, will be disqualified and lose the right to claim a prize to which they otherwise would have been entitled. If after the awarding of the contest prize a contest winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same process described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these rules and regulations. The City has the right to interpret these rules and regulations as required and its decisions are final.

Indemnification by entrant

By entering the contest, the entrant indemnifies and holds harmless, the City, its elected officials, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, successors, and assigns (“Releasees”) from and against any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage (including legal fees) of any kind to the entrant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, participation in the contest, any breach of the contest rules and regulations, or in any prize-related activity. The entrant further agrees to fully indemnify and hold harmless Releasees from any and all claims by third parties relating to the contest.

Governing law

This contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, regulations, and requirements. Any and all disputes arising from the contest will be resolved in the courts of the Province of Ontario and are subject to the laws of that Province.
