The City is installing a new water main on Eramosa Road between Metcalfe Street and Glenhill Place and replacing an existing water main on Glenhill Place up to the Guelph General Hospital.
This project is required to address the City’s aging water infrastructure and to upsize an existing water main to meet future growth demands. Both water mains are the primary source of water for the Guelph General Hospital.
Construction started in May 2018
Construction for the first phase of the project started in May. The work includes:
- Installing a new 600 millimetre water main and replacing a small, 150 millimetre water main on Eramosa Road
- Installing a new 300 millimetre water main on Glenhill Place to Guelph General Hospital
- Connecting the new 300 millimetre water main to Guelph General Hospital
- Final paving of Eramosa Road, Glenhill Place and the Metcalfe Street and Eramosa Road intersection by September 30, 2018
During phase one, Eramosa Road will be closed between Glenhill Place and Metcalfe Street for approximately one month, weather permitting.
One tree will be removed as a part of this project. The tree will be replanted during reconstruction of Glenhill Place, which is scheduled for 2019.
All construction notices, including timing updates and traffic changes, will be posted at guelph.ca/construction and in the Latest updates section below.
The City hosts open houses to provide detailed project information to interested stakeholders. Open house notices are posted in the latest updates section below. Open house materials will be available online following the event.
