As part of its Annual Asphalt Program, the City of Guelph, through its contractor Capital Paving Inc., will be repaving Downey Road from Woodland Glen Drive to Teal Drive.
The reconstruction work will include:
- Removing existing asphalt (milling),
- Curb repairs (as necessary),
- Paving new asphalt, and
- Remarking with two-way centre turn lane and one lane in each direction.
Bicycle lanes are also being added on each side to conform to the Cycling Master Plan, and on-street parking will be removed.
January 10, 2017
The work begun on April 21, 2014, and is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the construction period, however, drivers should expect significant delays.
Local access is being maintained. Vehicles wishing to avoid delays from construction are advised to use the Hanlon Expressway as an alternative route.
Property access and parking
During construction your driveway may be temporarily blocked during normal working hours (e.g. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). The contractor will make every effort possible to maintain access to your driveway, but delays for construction operations and equipment movement should be expected. All driveway access should be restored by the end of each working day (except as noted for overnight work).
On-street parking will be removed upon completion of the project.
Every effort will be made to maintain sanitary sewer and water service to individual properties during the reconstruction. Advance written notice will be provided prior to any planned service interruption.
Waste collection will not be impacted by the construction. Please continue to place your green, blue and clear waste bags or green, blue and grey carts at the curb as per your regularly scheduled collection time.
The City of Guelph appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project.
