Riverside Park is home to the City of Guelph’s antique carousel. Originally designed by Allan Herschell in 1919, it was purchased from Conklin Shows in 1970. It was restored in 1979, and a carousel shell was added in 1999. It was then that artist Stephen Lewis was commissioned to craft a weather vane to sit atop the carousel. The weather vane, pointing north, south, east and west, gives direction to this amusement ride which has a sole function of going round and round.

The carousel features three rows of jumping stallions, chariots and other figures, operating at 4.5 revolutions per minute. The carousel welcomes visitors seasonally from Victoria Day until mid-September, weather permitting.
