One2One Support Staff- Part time

Job summary

The City of Guelph Recreation Division offers a variety of recreation programs for people of all ages and abilities in weekly sessions throughout the year. The One2One Program is a program where participants with disabilities are matched with One2One staff for assistance while participating in City of Guelph recreational programs. The program helps participants reach personal goals, increase self-confidence and allow for a positive and safe environment to enjoy recreational programming.

Reporting to the Recreation Program Coordinator, Inclusion, successful candidates will assist individuals aged 4-18 living with various disabilities as they participate in various recreational programs offered by the City of Guelph. Successful candidates will be required to participate for the duration of the session with their One2One participant.

Note: there is no personal care required from our staff in this position.

One2One staff are primarily matched with participants in swimming and skating programs; however, there are occasional opportunities to work with participants doing other activities.

Hours of work vary depending on program

Saturday and Sunday between 9:00am and 5:00pm

Monday to Friday between 4:00pm and 8:00pm

  • Utilize behaviour management skills and strategies to support children living with disabilities
  • Assist with the communication of skills directed by the coaches
  • Create a welcoming environment for all participants
  • Communicate with other coaches and the on-ice facilitator
  • Create an inclusive environment on ice
  • Provide a fun, engaging and positive atmosphere for the skaters


  • Experience working with individuals living with various disabilities
  • Experience working with children
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification an asset
  • A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of offer
  • Full availability is required for scheduled program days and times


$15.01 per hour
