The City of Guelph is in contract negotiations with the City’s full- and part-time transit employees represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1189.
The City values the important work our employees do, and hopes to negotiate an agreement that is:
- fair for transit employees
- affordable for Guelph citizens
- aligns with settlements of other unionized employee groups
We will continue to provide exceptional service to the Guelph community throughout the negotiation process.

Council was clear in providing staff with direction and a mandate for the upcoming union negotiations with the ATU Local 1189.
“We hope to negotiate a fair, reasonable and affordable contract with our transit employees, one that recognizes our belief that Guelph Transit employees should be compensated appropriately for the valued work they do, and also recognize the need for balance to ensure long term affordability for our citizens.”
