Vehicle for Hire Bylaw update

Take our survey

As a result of our working group’s efforts, we’re surveying residents to:

  • Better understand the needs of residents who use vehicles for hire
  • Identify the ways our residents get around and why they choose those methods
  • To determine the level of interest residents have in more or less options for transportation

You can take the survey until February 28. Your feedback will be used to update the bylaw.

Join us at our open houses

In addition to the survey, we’re hosting three open houses in March to review information about the Vehicle For Hire Bylaw review, things we have learned from our working group discussions, learning about what is important to the community and their needs and answering community questions.

About the project

The Vehicle for Hire Bylaw includes the regulation of taxis, limousines and rideshare companies in the city of Guelph. In 2017, the Bylaw Compliance division of Operations was tasked by Council to review the current taxi bylaw to better reflect new ridesharing trends in our community.

Throughout 2017, the City has worked with a vehicle for hire working group made up of taxi owners and drivers, ridesharing programs and members of the public who rely on their services to help us evaluate the current bylaw.
