Help us review and refine the process for booking City facilities

Guelph, Ont., October 8, 2025 – The City of Guelph is reviewing the Facility Allocation Process, which outlines how we manage rentals and reservations for spaces in Guelph’s community centres, parks and recreation facilities. As we look toward the opening of the new South End Community Centre in late 2026, we’re asking for your input to help ensure this process balances the needs of all users in a transparent, efficient and responsible way.

The City will work with Overlap Associates to conduct a strategic review of the Facility Allocation Process, which includes research, community engagement and analysis.

Have your say

We invite you to complete the survey on Have Your Say to tell us about your experiences reserving and/or renting City facilities. We are especially interested in hearing feedback about any barriers that may make the booking process more difficult for different user groups.

What’s next

In upcoming weeks, we will also connect with diverse user groups to host in-depth interviews about the booking process. These groups will include sports organizations, neighbourhood groups and cultural groups, among others. We want to talk to community members who have been both successful and unsuccessful when booking space in City facilities.

By hearing directly from residents, user groups, and City staff, the project will be grounded in real experience and shaped by the unique and evolving needs, challenges and expectations of Guelph’s diverse community.

Equity and recreation for all

Our hope is that this process review will help us achieve our vision of recreation for all. This work will go beyond process development; it’s an opportunity to design a more equitable, transparent and consistent approach to how indoor recreation spaces are allocated across the city.
