What goes down comes around at the Wastewater Treatment Plant open house

Guelph, Ont., April 19, 2022 – Ever wonder what happens to the water once it goes down the drain? Find out at the Water Resource Recovery Centre’s (formerly the Wastewater Treatment Plant) family-friendly open house this Saturday.

Discover what it takes to remove waste from water, recover resources like energy and fertilizer and return water to its natural environment for everyone to use and enjoy.

“In many ways, this is a celebration,” says Tim Robertson, division manager, Wastewater Services. “This will be your opportunity to follow wastewater’s journey, from the drain in your home to the river and how it’s treated along the way. We invite you to ask our workers about what they do and how. Our city’s wastewater makes an amazing journey as it travels from our homes safely through the 530km of sanitary pipe, to the Water Resource Recovery Centre.”

All ages are invited to participate in fun games, check out unique service vehicles and take-home exclusive giveaways.
