COVID-19 guidelines in place, no games permitted, no spectators please
Guelph, Ont., Tuesday, July 7, 2020 – Starting July 13, some Guelph sports fields will be used for team practices and training.
The City contacted local leagues and user groups last week to start bookings.
“We know sports and recreation are important for a healthy community. We’re working through the emergency orders and guidelines to help people get out and play, while preventing the spread of COVID-19. We’ll start to see more people using the fields on July 13, and we’re taking bookings until October 5,” says Heather Flaherty, general manager of Parks and Recreation.
Users must follow emergency orders from the provincial government, guidelines from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and sports associations. Fields will not be marked or lined for team play. Games or scrimmages are not permitted, and spectators are discouraged.
Family members or guardians should avoid the field unless they are picking up or dropping off players. Everyone visiting a park or sports field must stay at least two metres away from people outside their household or social circle.
All leagues and user groups must ensure coaches, volunteers, parents and participants understand and follow guidelines.
