Shaping a new zoning bylaw with your input

Join the conversation in person or online November 21-January 6

Guelph, Ont., November 6, 2019—We’re in the process of updating Guelph’s zoning bylaw, and we’re ready to share our recommendations for a new set of rules to help achieve our community’s vision for the future of our city.

Guelph is your home, and we know that the way your city looks, feels and functions is important to you. A new zoning bylaw will put rules in place so you’ll know what to expect as neighbourhoods grow and change.

The City, with the help of a consultant, has prepared a series of discussion papers that outline options and recommendations for the new zoning bylaw. Some of the recommendations include:

  • Allowing accessory apartments in separate buildings on certain residential properties
  • Reducing the amount of parking required for apartment buildings and commercial plazas
  • Keeping the current rules for maximum driveway widths, and
  • Using zoning to further protect the city’s natural heritage system

Take a look at our discussion papers at-a-glance fact sheets to learn what’s covered in each chapter and why it may matter to you. The fact sheets and full discussion papers are available at www.guelph.ca/zoningreview.
