Trail closure coming to John Gamble Park on September 10

Between Hanlon Road and John Gamble Park

Trail access to the Hanlon Creek Conservation Area is closed from Hanlon Road at John Gamble Park on September 10.

The closure will last from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as contractors use heavy equipment to remove a weir in the Hanlon Creek. Pedestrians, cyclists, and dog walkers should avoid this area and take alternative routes.

The City and the brook trout appreciate your patience during this important trail closure.

About the closure

Trout Unlimited Canada is leading Hanlon Creek stream restoration, which is a cold water stream with a small population of brook trout. This weir is no longer needed for monitoring stream flows and removing it will help the fish move upstream and improve their habitat.
