Macdonell Street to Waterloo Avenue
The City is working with Drexler Construction Ltd. to undertake infrastructure work on Norfolk Street. Work includes repairing and surfacing the damaged road areas, and bridge installation across Norfolk Street.
The bridge will remain closed through to mid-September until the Wilson Street reconstruction and parkade project is complete.
Work begins July 15
Work is expected to begin on or about July 15, and take about three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Norfolk Street closed starting July 15
Norfolk Street will be closed to through traffic during the project. Traffic will be detoured along Gordon Street, Wellington Street and Woolwich Street. Residents who expect to travel in the area should anticipate delays.
The sidewalk on Norfolk Street will remain open and accessible from July 15 to about July 26. On or about July 27, the sidewalk will be closed for the remainder of the project.
Property and business access
All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.
Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.
There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
Guelph Transit routes 9, 41 and 99 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.
