City releases a stirring video to galvanize people around Guelph’s new Community Plan
Prepare to be moved, then watch and share “Navigating all our Stars.”
Guelph, Ont., June 20, 2019—Do you feel it? Our genuine want for connection. Our desire to create a better community, for everyone.
Through the talent of local artist Beth Anne Ellipsis, community members are able see their city in a new way. Beth Anne has captured the essence of Guelph’s vision for the future and presented it alongside the reality of where we are today. Beth Anne used the thoughts, opinions and values of community members collected over 18 months of community engagement and research when she penned this piece.
“Utilizing art in our daily activities enriches our experiences moving through our day, processing information and dialogue-ing about complex situations. It provides a relief valve, a kindness, an inspiration, otherwise void. Integrating art into the community plan will be fundamental to the success of its implementation,” says Beth Anne Ellipsis, Guelph Spoken Word.
“It was important for us to present the Community Plan in a variety of ways to make it relatable to as many people as possible,” says Jennifer Smith, Manager, Corporate and Community Strategic Initiatives. “It is our hope that the spoken word version will help people understand where we are going as a community and inspire them to get involved as we turn our aspirations into reality.”
