Notice of study commencement: Gordon Street improvements

The study

The City of Guelph has started a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study for proposed improvements to Gordon Street, from Edinburgh Road to Lowes Road. These improvements will accommodate community growth, considering vehicular traffic, driveway access, turning at intersections, transit stop locations and facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The location and approximate extent of the study area are shown on the map.

The process

The Environmental Assessment will be conducted as a Schedule ‘B’ project in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (Municipal Engineers Association, October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The study is being completed to develop an appropriate design for this section of Gordon Street, with considerations given to potential social, economic and environmental impacts, and appropriate mitigation measures to minimize these impacts.

How to participate

Open houses will be announced and held at a later date to present more information and seek public input. Details will be advertised in the Guelph Mercury Tribune and on, and circulated to neighbourhood residents and businesses.
