Construction notice: Gordon Street lane reductions starting May 21

At Surrey Street

Aecon Utilities will be working on behalf of Bell Canada to repair underground cabling along Gordon Street and Surrey Street.

Work begins May 21     

Work is expected to begin on or about May 21 and will take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

Lane reductions on Gordon Street expected

Gordon Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Surrey Street during construction. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. Access to Gordon Street from Surrey Street East and West will be blocked. Please follow posted signs for safety. A full road closure is not expected, however, delays should be expected. Cyclists will be required to merge with vehicular traffic. 

Pedestrian access

The sidewalk will be closed along Gordon Street during construction.  Please follow the Contractor’s signage to get around the site.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

Guelph Transit

Guelph Transit routes 41 and 99 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit for information about stop changes and route detours.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
