Construction notice: Glenhill Place road closed starting May 21

Lane reductions can be expected on Metcalfe near the Elliot Community  

The City is working with Morley’s Contracting (Brantford) Ltd. to undertake the reconstruction of Glenhill Place. Construction will extend through to Metcalfe Street through the Elliot Community Property, and will involve the following work:

  • Replacement of the existing 100mm diameter watermain with a 150mm diameter local watermain.
  • Replacement of existing sanitary sewers including providing new services to property line.
  • Placement of new storm sewers and catch basins.
  • Establishment of a new storm and sanitary easement.
  • Abandonment of the existing sanitary and watermain easements.
  • Reconstruction/replacement of curbs and asphalt surface.

Work begins May 21

Work is expected to begin on or about May 21 and will take approximately 4 months to complete, weather permitting.

Lane reductions and delays expected

Metcalfe Street will undergo lane reductions during the project in front of The Elliot Community (170 Metcalfe Street). Please follow posted signs for safety. A full road closure is not expected, however, delays should be expected.

Pedestrian access

Every effort will be made to maintain pedestrian access during the project. Please follow posted signs for safety. Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property, additional care will be warranted.

Property and business access and parking

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
