Construction update: Manor Park Crescent sewer replacement and siphon rehabilitation cancelled

Manor Park Crescent to Silvercreek Park

The City has cancelled rehabilitation work of the existing sanitary siphon that crosses under the Speed River west of Edinburgh Road South between Manor Park Crescent and Silivercreek Park, and replacement of storm and sanitary sewers on Manor Park Crescent.

Why is the project cancelled?

The City has been reviewing more options for improving the sanitary siphon that crosses the Speed River. The preferred course of action has changed to potentially twinning the existing siphon. The long-term benefits of twinning the siphon include being able to divert sewage if a siphon pipe becomes blocked or needs to be shut down for maintenance. The City anticipates an environmental assessment will be needed to evaluate the new recommendation.
