Construction notice: Elizabeth Street closed starting May 27

Between Stevenson Street South and Wheeler Avenue

About the project

The City is working with Civil-Link Inc. to undertake private infrastructure work, on behalf of Grinham Architects, to construct and install sewer and water pipes to a new home on Elizabeth Street.

Elizabeth Street is closed and detour in effect starting May 27

Construction is expected to begin on or about May 27, and take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

Elizabeth Street will be closed to through traffic throughout the project. Traffic will be detoured along Stevenson Street South to York Road to Wyndham Street South and along MacDonell Street. Local traffic will be permitted along Elizabeth Street, however, there will be no through access at 236 Elizabeth Street.

Pedestrian access

The north side of the sidewalk in front of 236 Elizabeth Street will be closed to pedestrians throughout construction. Please use the nearby crossings at Stevenson Street South and Huron Street to use the south sidewalk.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

Guelph Transit

Guelph Transit route 14 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
