Guelph, Ont., February 1, 2019 – The City’s Sounds of Guelph video series is the winner of the 2018 Award of Excellence from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO).
Tourism Services won in the branding and advertising category. The award was presented at the President’s Dinner at the EDCO Annual Conference and Showcase on January 31, 2019.
“We’re proud to be a recipient of this award,” says Stacey Dunnigan, manager of Culture and Tourism for the City of Guelph. “Tourism marketing is an exciting and challenging part of our work. To be recognized by our peers for our creative use of imagery, sound and social media to tell Guelph’s story is very gratifying.”
The Sounds of Guelph video series has been successful in raising Guelph’s tourism profile. Each of the twelve video’s highlight Guelph’s wide range of unique experiences and events, using only 20 seconds of sound. Featured are some of Guelph’s most-loved tourism destinations including Mustang Drive-In, Planet Bean Coffee, Riot Axe, Guelph Jazz Festival, Na Ha Thai Restaurant and the Guelph Farmers’ Market.

About the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Award of Excellence
The EDCO Award of Excellence encourages communities to enter economic development projects to be judged by industry leaders against communities with a similar population range. Award winners are viewed as leaders in economic development and are often asked to speak to their efforts and accomplishments at future EDCO events. Award winners in each category are eligible to receive the Lieutenant-Governors’ Best of Show Award for outstanding effort in economic development.
