Waterloo Avenue to Macdonell Street
Drexler Construction and Guelph Hydro/Alectra will be installing underground electrical systems for the City’s Wilson Street Parkade project. The work will be on Norfolk Street between Waterloo Avenue and Macdonell Street and will require a closure on Norfolk Street for the safety of everyone.
Construction starts February 4
The road closure is scheduled to begin Monday, February 4 and is expected to last three weeks, weather depending.
All road users are encouraged to use the alternate routes to move around the closure. Detour signage will be in place to direct drivers.
Pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk along the west side of Norfolk Street. The sidewalk along Wilson Street can also be used to walk between Waterloo Avenue and Macdonell Street.
Property and business access and parking
All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.
Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.
Guelph Transit routes 9, 41 and 99 will be impacted during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.
There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
