Construction notice: Gordon Street sidewalk restrictions start January 16

At Speed River bridge

Synergy Underground Utilities will be working on behalf of Rogers Communications to install underground cabling along Gordon Street.

Work begins January 16

Work is expected to begin on or about Wednesday, January 16 and will take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

Bike lane reductions on Gordon Street expected

During construction, the Contractor may have construction vehicles occupying the bike lane on the Boathouse side of the bridge (east side). Cyclists will need to merge with traffic on Gordon Street to navigate the site safely. A road closure is not expected but road users may encounter minor delays.

Pedestrian access

The sidewalk on the Boathouse side of Gordon Street (east side of the bridge) will be temporarily closed throughout the project. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the west side of the bridge for safe travel. Signage will be installed to direct pedestrians.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
