City moving forward with Clythe well upgrades

Reading time: 1 minutes

The City of Guelph has completed the Clythe Well Upgrade Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and is pursuing the recommendations.

The City is moving forward with the detail design of a water treatment facility at 37 Watson Road, across from the existing Clythe well site, and upgrading water mains to connect the treatment facility to the City’s existing water system.

The water treatment facility is anticipated to be complete in 2021.

The Clythe well is located at 24 Watson Road in northeast Guelph. This well was taken out of service in 1999 due to a number of customer complaints about poor water taste and odour. A study done in 2011 found that water from Clythe well could be successfully treated for improved quality.
