Construction notice: Elizabeth street closed for storm sewer installation starting November 12

Update January 16, 2019: The road closure has been extended to January 28 to accommodate unforeseen work on this project.

About the project

The City is working with Navacon Construction Inc. to install phase two storm sewers and a 100 millimetre water main on Elizabeth Street between Garibaldi Street and Stevenson Street. In addition, the City will replace the curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway aprons, and asphalt. There will be no changes to the lane configuration on Elizabeth street.

Construction on Elizabeth Street starts November 12

Construction on Elizabeth Street will start on or about November 12 for approximately two months, weather permitting.

Elizabeth street will be closed throughout construction

Elizabeth Street, between Stevenson Street and Garibaldi Street will be closed. Local access will be maintained throughout the project.

Pedestrian access

Sidewalks on Elizabeth Street will be closed to pedestrians during construction.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
