Stone Road West and Gordon Street
About the project
The City is working with Capital Paving Inc. to:
- Remove and repair concrete curbs,
- Adjust manholes, and
- Repave the road surface.
All work will take place on City property.
Once the road is paved, the City will be adding new markings to make it easier for people on bikes to navigate the intersection.
This design, known as a protected intersection, eliminates the need for people on bikes to turn left from the traditional left-hand turn lane. Cyclists will have the option to cross the intersection in the designated green bike lane, wait on the corner for the light to turn green, and then cycle across the second leg in order to complete a left-hand turn.
Construction starts overnight on August 16
Concrete work is expected to start on or about August 16 and continue for about one week. The overnight paving work following the concrete work will continue for about two days. All dates are weather permitting.
Traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout the closure
There will be shifting lane reductions throughout the project, however, traffic will be maintained in all directions.
Property and business access
All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.
Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.
