Guelph police headquarters: July 2018 construction update

The renovation and expansion of Guelph Police Service’s headquarters is underway. Here is a summary of the work completed in July 2018.

Progress to date

East wing

  • Washroom fixtures 90 per cent complete
  • Wood door installation, including hardware, 90 per cent complete
  • Painting 90 per cent complete
  • Exterior wall finish (cladding) 80 per cent complete
  • Interior vinyl composite tile work is 50 per cent complete
  • Gym and sports room flooring complete
  • Cabinets 80 per cent complete
  • Roof over new addition complete, with about 60 per cent of the roof over the existing wing complete

West wing

  • Curtainwall frames (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) 75 per cent complete
  • Steel framing at the east corner 25 per cent complete
  • Third floor drywall 5 per cent complete
  • Second and third floor information technology closet wiring and cabinets started
  • Opening for stair on south side complete

Looking ahead to August

East wing

  • Exterior wall finish (limestone and zinc) complete
  • Aluminum fascia and soffits 50 per cent complete
  • Flooring complete
  • Painting complete
  • Millwork complete
  • Existing roof nearing completion
  • Washroom fixtures complete
  • Partial occupancy expected

West wing

  • East corner steel and steel deck complete
  • Curtainwall frames (steel and aluminum) complete
  • Glazing for curtain wall to begin
  • Elevator doors to be installed
  • Generator wiring and mechanical piping to be complete
