Construction notice: Speedvale Avenue East closed starting July 27

Woolwich Street to Stevenson Street North

As part of the ongoing Hydro work on this project, Guelph Hydro Energy Systems Inc. will be constructing underground electrical infrastructure across Speedvale Ave. E. at multiple location.  This work will require a full road closure.

Construction starts July 27

Work is expected to begin on Friday, July 27 at 9 p.m. and will take all weekend to complete, weather permitting.  The road is expected to reopen at 9 p.m. on July 29.

Traffic will be detoured via Woolwich Street, Woodlawn Road and Victoria Road

Traffic will be detoured using Woolwich Street, Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North. Detour and information signs are installed.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrian access on City sidewalks will be limited. Please follow the signs on how to detour.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.

Transit

Guelph Transit Route 12 will be affected by this closure. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information on stop changes and detours.
