Guelph police headquarters: April 2018 construction update

The renovation and expansion of Guelph Police Service’s headquarters is underway. Here is a summary of the work completed in April, 2018.

Progress to date

East wing addition

  • Wall paint finishes are 90 per cent complete
  • Ceramic floor finishes are 40 per cent complete
  • Door installation is 60 per cent complete
  • Ceiling installation is 70 per cent complete
  • Men’s locker room locker installation is 90 per cent complete
  • Steel frame for the generator is 90 per cent complete

West wing addition

  • Masonry, slab and door frames for the final cell block are installed
  • Cell beds are framed
  • Roof protective wall is installed
  • Framing for the curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) is 70 per cent complete
  • Secure entryway masonry and mechanical system are 50 per cent complete
  • Masonry block coating has been started

Looking ahead to May

East wing addition

  • Framing for the last roof top HVAC unit will be complete and the unit will be installed
  • Ducting for locker rooms will begin
  • Wall and floor tiling will continue in the washroom and shower
  • Overall painting and tiling will continue
  • Steel framing for the generator will be completed and the generator will be set up

West wing addition

  • Roof on the existing west building will be completed
  • Roof on the addition to be made water tight
  • Steel framing will begin on the south east corner
  • Curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) framing will be completed
  • Masonry block coating to be 50 per cent complete
