Guelph police headquarters: March 2018 construction update

The three-year renovation and expansion of Guelph Police Service’s headquarters is underway. With a lot of interior work happening now, here is a summary of the work completed in March, 2018.

Progress to date

East wing addition

  • Installation of the roof top unit is nearly complete
  • Painting is 80 per cent complete
  • Ceramic tiled flooring is nearly 40 per cent complete
  • Door installation is 50 per cent complete
  • Ceiling installation is 70 per cent complete
  • Firing range roof is complete
  • Interior frames and glazing are 90 per cent complete
  • Installation of lockers in the men’s locker room is 75 per cent complete

West wing addition

  • The cell block masonry, slab and door frames are complete
  • Roof parapet has been installed
  • Framing for the curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) is 50 per cent complete

Looking ahead to April

East wing addition

  • Framing for the last roof top HVAC unit will begin
  • Ducting for locker rooms will begin
  • Wall and floor tiling will begin in the washroom/shower
  • Expansion joints will be installed
  • Painting and tiling will continue
  • Steel frame for the generator will be completed and generator will be set up

West wing addition

  • Generators will be set up
  • Roof will be completed
  • Steel framing will begin in the south east corner
  • Curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) framing will be completed
